Commercially manufactured cigarettes can be quite pricey. I have been making my own for years, and have recently introduced roll your own tobacco to my mother and my aunt. Finding a good menthol tobacco with a strong, yet smooth flavor has been no easy task, until now. My mother was a regular smoker of Marlboro Menthol, and likewise Salem and Newport for my aunt. Both are extremely satisfied with Kentucky Select Green tobacco. Kentucky Select Tobacco Red offers a better flavor, while maintaining the full strength of a cigarette that smokers of Marlboro Red or Winston Full Flavor will greatly appreciate. I have found much fewer stems by far than other tobacco brands. TED Tobacco offers better prices than your local tobacco store. The shipping speeds are within 3 days. Truly wonderful for us on the west coast. All tobacco is fresh and exactly as ordered.

I rate based on the quality of the tobacco (i.e. stems/stalks contained), the cut of the tobacco which has a great impact on the ease of rolling cigarettes, and of course the taste/aftertaste. Scale of 0 to 5. Simple formula: (quality of tobacco+cut of tobacco+(taste*2)/4. My opinion of the Kentucky Select Green is: Quality: 3.5 - There is what I would consider a large amount of stems in this tobacco, but not to the point that I would not purchase it again. It just requires a little more time when injecting to make sure the stems are removed. Cut: 4.0 - wide shredded tobacco, not bad but more narrow would give a more uniform injection. Taste: 4.25 - The taste is excellent. If you are a chain smoker then the one drawback is smoking them back to back leaves a really odd menthol taste, like an old chewy menthol cough drop. As a pack a day smoker who spaces them out though, this is not really an issue for me. Final rating: 4.0 Not bad. In my opinion there are at least a couple better menthols, but this is a solid blend.

Quality is excellent. Grade A+++ Cut is full, leafy, and packs well in tubes. Menthol is between moderate and heavy. Overall an excellent value for the cost.
